Finished Product – Hawaii Dress

This pattern was so super simple that I finished it up in just one night. I love me an instant gratification sewing project, don’t you?

The bust darts ended up a tad high but the print is so that its really not noticeable. I mean really I find it hard to believe a few decades ago everyone’s nipples pointed skyward yet every pattern makes it seem that way!

I think this dress will be perfect over a swimsuit at the beach but it will make a great addition to my summer wardrobe as well. I think the print is great that its sort of beachy but not too ridiculous!

New project coming up tomorrow!

What a lovely dress, I imagine you could wear it over tights and boots in the winter as well, it looks so versatile!

Also – super jealous of your impending Hawaii trip!

That is really cute, I like the fabric, summery in feel but kind of Christmasy in color.

Oh wow, I love this dress!!! It really is perfect for the beach, but smart enough to throw over your swimsuit and look respectable enough to go for an ice cool drink when the sun gets too much! Where did you get such awesome fabric?!!

I actually scored this on clearance from Joanns for like 2 bucks a yard.

i have a question to you. i’ve noticed you always cut the skirt of your dresses really long (floor-length?), but hem it to knee-length afterwards. why do you do that? are you unsure which length it should be or afraid of making the dress too short? isn’t it a waste of fabric? just wondering! (:

My dress form is a bit on the short side so it looks like the dress was really long but i only chopped a few inches off the length. I don’t like to make a hem length decision until the end when I can see the item just about finished.

alright, i guess it only looked that way on your dress form! i also cut my dresses/skirts some inches longer, because i’m afraid of making them too short!
