When I was little I always dreamed of joining the circus and riding elephants all day long for a career. I still have quite the affinity for elephants but I doubt I’ll be running away to join Ringling Brothers anytime soon.
I got this circus print fabric a long time ago and I’ve been looking for the perfect pattern. I wanted to make a kitschy kind of dress but I couldn’t find the right one so I decided to go with Mccalls 6083.
Im fairly pleased with the outcome of the romper and I’d like to try the pattern with a gray charcoal knit i’ve had lying around for forever. Especially because making it in a stiff cotton makes it difficult to wriggle into the jumper which is obviously designed to made in material with some stretch to it.
Im glad I took these pictures before I went out in this outfit cus the romper ended up a little too short for my taste. I’ll just have to wait a bit when the weather cools and I can pair these with some tights.
PS Forgive my crazy hair.

The romper looks great! I have been trying to make one on my own for most of the summer.
Love it! So cute, cool fabric, and I think it would be excellent in a stretch fabric. I’ve been toying with a romper to wear skating, but am a little bit afraid of the wedgie factor, I think I’m going to make it a little longer in the body :/
Very nice ! I too have been toying with the romper idea – or playsuit or what have you, the mags over here call them something new every day, I swear… I saw a really lovely one in a floral jersey in a shop here, so I’ve been dying to recreate it . I’m also a bit concerned that I’ll get the crotch fit completely off, ha! Yours is really lovely though
Always good to hear about you and look at the awesome things that you make. ANd you’r come back was great (because I secretly hate when bloggers apologize for not blogging in a long time, a girl needs to have a life no?) =)
When you are finished with your coat, do show us okay?
totally cute! it reminds me of a hospital gown scout had at the ER once.
I used the same pattern last month but I made the strapless version… I’m glad to see that this version is very cute too! I think you convince me to do it that way next time.

Too cute!
I love your refashions ( a lot, more than I can express), and your retro styles. You are super talented, and have such a good eye for transforming something into a spectacular garment. As to this super cute number, you might consider adding a contrasting hem in to the shorts. It would be a cute way to add the extra length that would make you feel more comfortable, and the outfit worn more often.
