I got this dress for the usual buck a while ago but I just couldn’t for the life of me figure out what to do with it.
I thought I could make something wearable out of the skirt portion as I thought the drop-waist style would make it difficult to keep it a dress. So I simply chopped of the skirt, turned over the edge to make a tunnel and threaded in some elastic.
Im not usually a fan of elastic waist skirts but I do like this one.
I didn’t want to waste the top half so I chopped the sleeves off and took the sides in. The blouse pairs well with these sailor pants which I fixed up last week. They had a big rip at the back pocket and were a little bit too short. I let them down and took them in as they were super super wide.
I actually think I prefer how it looks to wear the two pieces together. Looks like it was meant to be a cute little dress, thought now I have tons of possibilities with either a skirt, a top, or a sort of dress.
Im super excited to be heading out the the Nurses and The Tallest Man on Earth show here in Phoenix tonight! yay

How fantastic! You’ve turned one not-so-cute dress into not one, not two, but THREE totally wearable and cute outfit possibilities. So inspiring!

Those pants ARE amazing, they are so flattering make you look so tall. Would also be curious to know if you made, and if so which pattern?
This turned out awesome! I love the two together, but the flexibility of them solo is great too. That print is terrific, I can see why you didn’t want to let that one go. I’m starting to think I need to start checking out second hand stores.
What a lovely skirt and top, you are awesome indeed. And I love those sailor pants on you.
I love those pants!!!! They are awesome.
I am giddy with anticipation, please do tell about the pants!!!

I would just like to say, first off, cute! Second, I did not get you sick…especially with strep throat. You can edit that out of your post now. Miss you sis!!
Aaaah, I LOVE these outfits! The blouse and the pants look like a million dollars (I have a pair just like them, btw, but they are too short even after I let them down. I’ve planned to lengthen them a bit for years now… but I do love them. I must fix it before autumn.
The “dress” is lovely. Versatility is the best.
I love the simplicity of this skirt!! How did you make it? It’s probably a simple pattern… i hope
